Inflate Works designs, develops and in-house produces custom-made inflatable applications. Usually, a challenging industrial issue for which no standard solution is available.
This project deals with inflatable bellows developed as a lifting mechanism. Friction as a function of air pressure in the inflatable bellow is determined using our tensile tester.
Lifting mechanism based on friction
This lifting mechanism operates based on the friction between the contact surface of the bellow and the object to be lifted. This mechanism allows lifting e.g. hollow tubes. The lifting power is by default equally distributed along the surface area, preventing damage to the object. It allows also lifting objects without having lifting connections.
